In the scrapbook this week: how I cast 100+ roles, and My Octopus Teacher
Hey guys,
Some things I thought it'd be interesting to share:
It's captivating. It's a love story. It's a documentary that touches you on the most basic human level. It's a thriller. It's a middle-aged-man-coming-of-age story. It revealed a lot to me. It makes me feel really bad about eating octopus. Find it on Netflix. Thank you Shirley Huang for the recommend.
I published an article about how I cast 100+ roles. It's an informative behind-the-scenes look, and it has some useful perspectives. AND it includes entertaining, revealing audio snippets from Alejandro Santoni, the man who plays Alberto.
Try mind mapping. I'm doing it with Mind Node. Great for plans that have tangents and what-ifs and can't be put in linear order.
The Social Dilemma doesn't say much that you haven't already heard, and it makes its arguments a little simplistic: get rid of your phone, or you become an addict.
But it does shine light on some things. The most important to me, the point I think we forget too often, is that we're bombarded with media selected to confirm our biases, pushing them further and splintering reality into different ideas of truth. We prefer to live in an echo chamber. But if you become aware of it, you can loosen its grip.If you're in Manhattan, next time you take a walk, take it in Central Park, and make it a Soundwalk.
Feel free to share any of this with anyone you know who'd like it -- you can send the links -- or preferably forward the email so they have the chance to subscribe.
