New art

In the scrapbook this week: witty Squarespace and Ljova's process

Hey guys,

Some new things:

  1. Got some new Alberto art (password: graffiti)

  2. I talked with composer Ljova about his very Zen approach.

  3. Haven't browsed commercials much lately. Then came across Squarespace's new campaign video. They've always had some humor and wit and Idris Elba being funny. But this one hits a new level of inspiration. Developed by Squarespace's own in-house agency. And directed by Ian Pons Jewell whose work I truly admire. And edited by Tobias Suhm. It's important to realize lots of times these commercials are built in the edit. And also important to realize editors are still at the mercy of the head creatives...

...This holds true for directing commercials as well -- more often than not you're the middleman for creating an idea.  But when you're Spike Jonze, you'll have more sway. He directed the Idris Elba one. Also this live music video for his ex Karen O

  4. Signing up for Criterion. It's been almost a decade since I've really dug into the collection. Classic horror fans, here's more reason. But first stop for me was Wong Kar-wai's Chungking Express. Hit needle drops and vibrant urban colors.

  5. Waiting for them to include more instruments, but this is neat.

  6. Now you can look even more like a pro for Instagram, but tell me, what's the benefit of donating that much over the goal amount?

  7. YES
