In the scrapbook this week: rapid eye movement and recent fight film
Hey guys,
Some new things:
A Quiet Place Part II is a good film for a theater. Moments that recall the type of monster suspense in the first Jurassic Park. It doesn't offer much more than that, but maybe that's enough. The dangerous thing about a concept with such obvious suspense potential is that almost every moment becomes manufactured for it -- characters can never speak naturally -- every pause and whisper has to be milked -- tone rarely varies or surprises. It's workman-like, but good.
High school days -- I remember seeing this in theaters and deafening screams erupting all around. Does Shyamalan have something good again with Old?Anthony Bourdain, Roadrunner -- nice name
Rapid eye movement therapy? It engages the mind's eye. The connection between memories, visuals, and rewatching is something fundamental. Here's a quick news segment.
This is welcome news. Though some top tier martial artists from the Raid came on for John Wick 3, you could see they had to temper their speed for Keanu Reeves. Hopefully Donnie's addition spices up what's already a strong universe. Don't expect fights that top the intensity of The Night Comes For Us, but I'm confident they'll make up for it with signature flair and style.
A film collage and tapestry of stillness. At the very least, a good way to listen to Ennio Morricone.
